FreePatent Search

Type a search. The tool returns matching patents from Google Patents with assignee, inventor, dates and a link to each one.

Free. No account. No API key.

How it works.

  1. Type a search

    Type the words that describe the invention, as you would say them.

  2. Get the patents

    The tool calls google.patents. The API returns the patents that match.

  3. Open or download

    Select a title to open the patent on Google Patents. Download CSV saves one row per patent.

The same call, from your code.

The tool makes one call to google.patents. Run the same request from your code, or give it to your agent. The response is JSON with each patent, its assignee, its inventor and its dates.

terminal
curl -X POST "https://api.stophy.dev/v1/google/patents" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $STOPHY_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"query": "solid state battery"
}'

What people use it for.

  • Check prior art

    Search your idea in your own words before you file, and read the closest patents first.

  • See who holds the patents

    Each result names its assignee, so you can see which companies hold patents on a technology.

  • Date a technology

    Compare the filing dates to see when work on a technology started.
